My Story

Arturas Jevdokimovas was born in 1966, in Vilnius, Lithuania. Arturas is a Lithuanian film director, screenwriter, and producer. Studied TV Direction at Vilnius Conservatory (1987, Lithuania), and graduated in Film Direction at Tbilisi Theatre and Film Institute (1993, Republic of Georgia).
Currently works as film director/producer, events/festivals organizer, and curator.

He interned with J. Mekas at the Film Anthology Archive in New York. In 1998, founded the production company Panoptikumas (2003-16 was the director). 1999-2011 organized the International Festival of Small Film Forms Tinklai (the first 4 were organized with producer Daiva Vaitiekūnaitė, held in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Ventė Cape, Šiauliai, Panevėžys).

Created 9 short, and 5 feature documentary films.

In 1990 he debuted with the short documentary Walking in the Zone (Munich Film Festival Prize) about a day in a penal colony. He made anthropologically oriented documentaries The Idylls of Kirtimai (1991, about Romani people) and Up by the River (1992, about the Tusheti people, both awarded prizes at the Pärnu Anthropological and Documentary Film Festival), characterised by observation of life and irony.

Other documentaries include The Nets (1994), Memory of the Film Gone By (1997, with R. Leipus), One Question (1995), and In Vogue. The Film (1999), Complicated Matter (2004), Anthology of The Plot (Silver Crane 2016), Second Hand (2019). Broken Piano and Other Stories (with Bernardas Andriušis, Jeffrey Perkins, 2022, 4 parts), Life and Death of a Christmas Tree (2023). Has written his own film scripts.
